In times where MTV Germany is a pay-tv channel only, the relevance of it (in my eyes) nearly decreased to zero. Nevertheless MTV Europe managed a great spectacle in Festhalle, Frankfurt: in a steampunk-circus-look Heidi Klum moderated the 2012 EMA masterfully (although her voice is hard to endure).

And because it is a live tv production, they are trying to fake things for the tv-audience: The floor was just 50% filled (which led to a quite comfortable concert experience), before the show and in every commercial-break two guys tried to motivate the crowd to cheer and clap like crazy and the performances where clearly optimized for tv (The Killers played their whole performance behind a semi-permeable LED-curtain).

All in all it was nice to be there, seeing No Doubt, Muse, Alicia Keys and PSY (the Gangnam Style Dude) was fun – but you don’t missed a thing if you neither watched the show on tv nor were at Festhalle.
